The Menominee American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Unit 146 held its regular meeting on January 8 at the Legion Post, and Julie Erickson, president, extended a welcome to all present.
Committee Reports: Marjorie Albert, Cheer chairman, reported mailing cards to Nellie Beland, Pat Pogrant, Mary Geniesee, and Kim Pogrant. Judy Pier, Children and Youth chairman, extended a thank you to her committee as follows: Jane Raygo, Judy Anderson, Sherry Nutter, Barbara Kanyuh and Joann Torreano. Also, a thank you to the membership for donations received to "Snuggle up with a Book" project for Rainbow House, "Give-a-Kid" book program sponsored by Spies Library, and Pregnacy Center, Marinette for books, blankets, hats, and gloves, which were included in some of the projects. In addition, Judy Pier reported that a disabled veteran with children and grandchildren received various items for Christmas. Jane Raygo reported on Wreaths Across America program which was held December 1 at Riverside Cemetery, Menominee. A discussion followed on donations, pasty and wreath sales which supported the project. Donna Lewis, Membership chairman, reported a total of 221 paid members for 2019, and anyone interested in becoming a member may contact her at 906-863-1679.
Julie Hendrick, secretary, reported thank you correspondence for donations received from the following: D. J. Jacobetti Veterans Home, Rainbow House, DAR Boys/Girls Club, Emergency Rescue Squad, and Maroon Booster Club.
Joann Torreano extended a thank you to Sally Broetzman for her decorating expertise for the ALA Christmas dinner, and reported a newly formed Decorating Committee has been formed at the Legion Post.
